Keeping your Eyes Healthy

The eyes, like all other body parts, need to be properly taken care of and nourished to ensure they continue to perform as they should.  Eye health, is however, often overlooked unless a serious problem develops.

Most people have on occasion experienced some sort of eye problems.  Be it dry eyes, tired bloodshot eyes, itchy or irritated eyes, our eyes will generally tell us when they are not getting the care they need.  Water and itchy eyes can therefore be a sign of allergies, while dark circles can tell us we are not getting enough sleep.

More Americans are nearsighted than ever, according to a new report by the National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Also called myopia, nearsightedness occurs when the eyes focus incorrectly to make distant objects look blurred which can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgery.
