Healthcare for Ears

There is an old saying that states the only thing you should ever put into your ear is your elbow. Try it. It’s impossible, unless you have detachable arms. The underlying idea of the saying is that your ears are very sensitive, and important, and they shouldn’t be messed around with.

Healthy ears start with safety. Using cotton swabs to clean out the canals is one of the most dangerous things you can do, yet many people do it anyway. Dr. George Alexiades has said that he treats two to four punctures caused by cotton swabs each year, and when you damage inner ear drums the result is both costly and painful.

When cleaning many people aim to get rid of the wax that exists naturally. Too much wax can be a problem, but it is absolutely necessary to have at least some there in order to ward off infection due to foreign objects entering, and to keep water out.

Also, go easy on the volume. Listening to music with headphones is something that many people do without thinking. Whether at the gym, or while gardening, or during any of the hundreds of things people like to do while listening to music, it is vital that you keep the noise down. Headphones deliver sound from an extremely close source, which taxes your eardrums much more than a distanced noise, and the chance of damage is much higher.

Diet is also important. As ever, a strong clean diet will help you. Avoiding junk food will prevent some of the unnecessary build up of wax in your ears, and taking supplements that deliver the herbs that make your ears healthy is a great way to keep your ears strong.
