Getting in Shape Before New Years
Most of us wait until after New Years to implement our New Years resolutions. Instead of using January 1st as an excuse to procrastinate before you start getting into shape, take the necessary steps right now and you will have a head start on everybody else. Although many people view a resolution as a temporary change that usually ends, you should really look at it as a change in lifestyle. Here are a few tips to being on your way to getting in shape before the New Year.
2. Plan out your schedule. Planning your schedule is a very important part of changing your lifestyle. As most people lead very busy lives, instead of feeling like the gym is just one extra thing to do, make it a part of your daily routine. If you start to put away at least 30 minutes to an hour away at a set time each day to incorporate a work out, in no time it will be a part of your routine.
3. Set goals: In order to achieve something you have to know what you are trying to achieve. Setting specific goals will also keep you focused and motivated. It is a great idea to keep a workout diary to track your progress weekly and see how close you are to achieving your goals.
4. Find a work out partner. Most people are more likely to stick with working out if they are doing it with a partner. Another great advantage of this is that you can keep each other motivated and have fun doing it.
5. Try something new. Joining a yoga or Pilates class that you have never done before is a great way to try new things that you may find you love. Outdoor activities are also great exercise-rock climbing, skiing, surfing, and hiking are all excellent calorie burners.
