Exercise Helps Prevent Cancer

You have probably heard that exercise prevents cancer but have you ever wondered how or to what extent? Numerous studies on the subject have lead researchers to the conclusion that exercise has a very powerful effect on cancer prevention. In fact, many have now deemed exercise just as important as nutrition when it comes to preventing cancer. Before this, exercise was looked at as important but it was never known exactly how important it was as no direct correlation between physical activity and cancer research could be linked.
Today, scientists have begun to understand more about the link between individuals who exercise regularly and the rate at which they are affected by cancer . Among the cancers studies are intestinal, endometrial, colon, breast and lung. One survey based on information collected over a 23-year period found that regular exercise can help prevent intestinal cancer. This study included examining 5,000 males who were divided into four groups according to their level of physical activity. They found that exercising on a regular basis has a big role in intestinal cancer prevention. Doctors believe that physical activity strengthens the immune system so that it can fight off cancer. Exercise also helps your intestines function properly. This means that toxins or waste that would normally be in your system for longer will be eliminated from the body quicker than normal which lessens the risk of them doing cellular damage.
Along with preventing cancer directly through improving the functioning of certain bodily systems, exercise prevents cancer indirectly. People who are active tend to be at a healthy weight which decreases your risk for cancer. Also, people who exercise also consume less saturated fats and eat healthier, both of which are important in cancer prevention .

All these years I thought exercise was only for toning the muscles and to be fit but preventing cancer is sometime new to me. If exercise can really prevent even fatal diseases like cancer I think we should start taking exercise more seriously.
We all know exercise can benefit us but we're either lazy, if not, we don't have time. There are different kinds of exercises, find one that's just right for you and be a part of good health.
