Drink Red Wine to Cure Cancer?

If you haven't heard about resveratrol by now, you're going to be hearing a lot more about it soon enough. Resveratrol is an extremely potent antioxidant that is found in grapes, berries and red wine.

Resveratrol has been touted as an effective anti-aging, weight loss aid with the potential to cure cancer. Sound too good to be true? Research is suggesting that it may be the holy grail of antioxidant supplements.

• Results from a study at the University of Rochester Medical Center showed that resveratrol destroyed pancreatic cancer cells.

• Another study published by Neurochemistry International noted that resveratrol can delay the onset and mitigate the negative effects of Alzheimer's disease.

• The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine studied the ability of resveratrol to protect against radiation exposure with promising results.

• Published in Carcinogenises, this study found excellent results as a preventative and effective treatment of prostate cancer.

• Mice on a fatty diet had fewer obesity related problems as researched and published in Carcinogenises.

• The Clinical Cancer Research study found that resveratrol is effective at inhibiting tumour growth, even leading to tumour regression and tumour cell death!

• Fast Forward recently printed a study showing that their research had a positive effect on breast cancer.

It seems that almost everything these days can cause cancer. From new car smell, tupperware and plastics, carcinogens, styrofoam, teflon pans, etc, there is a scare that our environment may contribute to cancer. As a healthy, able-bodied male, the thought of cancer scares me. To know that resveratrol has the potential to negate the advancement of cancer and tumour growth is a blessing and is a product I take everyday.

A lot more research is required to fully realize the potential of this powerful antioxidant. All pharmaceutical companies are developing a live-long-and-healthy drug that they believe will lead to humans living a high quality of life well beyond 100.
