Feel Full With Fibre
One of the easiest ways to diet and consume less calories is to strategically skew your diet towards foods which make your feel full faster. You’ll begin to eat a lot less but you’ll never feel hungry, and since these foods are so good for you you’ll probably feel much better overall as your body reaps the benefits of a more nutritionally balanced diet. You don’t need to starve yourself, and you don’t need to buy intrusive medications. No will power is required if you simply pick the right foods.
This is of course not an instant weight loss method, losing a lot of weight requires a variety of different things. But if you want to slowly and steadily shed some pounds you can opt for a more filling diet and before you know it you’ll have lost a considerable amount of weight without really doing anything. Consider the fact that a cup of salted peanuts contains about thirty times as much calories as a cup of raw broccoli, meaning you could eat thirty cups of raw broccoli before you match the calorie content of a single cup of peanuts. However if you also consider the fact that a cup of broccoli is much more filling than a cup of peanuts, the difference is even more incredible.
The most filling foods are ones that contain lots of water, dietary fiber, and protein. These kinds of foods also often contain less calories, a great combination as far as your diet is concerned. Apples are great, they are a good source of pectin, a fiber which leaves you feeling full and it digests slowly. Apples and pears are both low in calories and full of water so they provide perfect examples of healthy, filling foods which also taste great.
Skipping breakfast is never a good idea no matter how much you’re trying to diet it will only be counterproductive. Instead you need to have better breakfasts, skip bagels and toast and opt for an egg. Eggs are good for you in so many ways that you should eat them anyway, but they are particularly high in protein so they’ll keep your appetite at bay well into the day. Beans are another great food; they are high in cholecystokinin, a proven natural appetite suppressant.
Fatty fish contain the fatty acids you need which will boost your metabolism and help you burn more fat than usual. Whole grains are also an important part of a healthy diet, and will keep you fuller much longer than processed food. If you’re looking for a good snack, popcorn has very little calories and should fill you up too. This is just a start, try thinking of more filling foods that contain low calories yourself and put together a filling diet of foods you love.
