Body Image Linkd To Health

Your body image directly affects your health and the way you live. No matter what your body type or shape, body image is a direct reflection about how you feel about yourself and absolutely everyone deserves to feel good about yourself. This self perception is something that everone struggles with at some point in their lives. Many studies have shown that poor body image is linked to poor overall health.

Poor body image comes from many places. For many it is the media portrayal of people that are made to look perfect. For others it comes from critical parents or peers, and for others it stems from psychological issues. No matter why someone may have poor self esteem when it comes to their body, it impacts your mental and physical health. For one, constantly thinking negative thoughts about yourself actually does damage to your internal body. It can lead to a manifestation of disease and a lower immune system . Also many people who do not view their bodies as beautiful tend to treat their bodies badly when it comes to feeding them. Extreme dieting, laxatives, purging or simply not eating come from poor body image. Males are more likely to work out excessively or take supplements that damage their internal organs.

If you have poor body image , there are a number of things to keep in mind. For one, stop idealizing celebrities and remember that movies, TV and magazines are not real representations of the people.  Secondly, stop thinking that being skinny, muscular, etc is going to solve all of your problems because it is not. Many people who lose a large amount of weight find themselves disappointed because they thought that they would be at their happiest if they were skinny but found this to not be correct. You have to start working on yourself from the inside out to make any kind of meaningful and lasting change.
