Sick Of Feeling Bloated?

Feeling bloated is not a good feeling. Not only does it make you feel tired and uncomfortable, but it also makes you feel unattractive. Everyone experiences bloating at some time or another, whether it be after a big dinner, after something that you eat or for women during their menstrual cycle. Bloating is caused by a number of different factors and can therefore be difficult to diagnose the root of the problem.

The main cause for bloating is diet. Everyone’s digestive system is different and some can handle harder to digest foods whereas others absolutely cannot, causing their stomach to get upset and bloated.  The most common foods that cause bloating are high salt foods or foods that produce gas such as beans or certain vegetables. If you drastically change your fibre intake in one day and your body is not used to it this can cause bloating as well. Calcium supplements can also cause gas in some people. A simple reflex like inhaling may even be the cause of bloating; some people actually swallow more air in as a result of stress, or simply when they eat. Chewing on gum and smoking can also make you inhale more air.  Bloating is very common in women because often it is a sign of gynecological problems or the menstrual cycle.

In order to avoid getting bloated, stay away from diets with high sodium content and also foods that are processed. Also, by gradually increasing the amount of fibre rich foods you eat such as fruit, vegetables, and whole grains you should decrease the amount of bloating you experience.
