Coffee Found To Prevent Disease

If the only good thing about your Monday morning is having a coffee, drink up and enjoy the health benefits without the guilt. Coffee sometimes gets a bad rap and it is common belief that it can cause dehydration, bone deterioration , and even anxiety and irregular heart beats. New research shows that coffee is actually not bad for you - in fact it contains a high amount of antioxidants and can also decrease the risk of dementia later in life.

The study was undertaken by a team of team of Swedish and Danish researchers. They analyzed a group of over 1,000 men and women who participated in the study for about twenty one years. The researchers took into account other health factors like high cholesterol and blood pressure. After analyzing their data they found that the people who drank three to five cups of coffee per day were 65% less likely to develop dementia compared to those who drank two cups or less. Those who drank more than five cups also had a less of a chance of developing dementia but there were not enough of these people in the study to draw concrete conclusions.

Along with decreasing your risk for dementia, coffee has been found to lower your risk of diabetes, colon cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and chronic headaches.  Coffee is best when you drink it without fatty cream or added sugar - if you do need a little something in your coffee try skim milk with a splash of cinnamon instead of sugar.
