Buy Hemp Clothing

You may have recently seen an increase in the production and marketing of organic cottons, soy and bamboo clothing and hemp clothing.  Organic natural fiber clothing has become increasingly popular.  There has been a real explosion in recent years in the availability of these alternative fibers.  Find out below just why these options have taken the world by storm.

Hemp clothing may have in the past been for true hippies and/or rappers, but nowadays regular folk are increasingly turning to this fiber when choosing their clothing.  Everything from coats and caps to yoga wear and undergarments are now available in hemp mixes.  Just why more and more people are turning to these fabrics has to do with their sustainability.

Hemp is an all natural fiber that is derived from the plant Cannabis sativa (the marijuana plant).  However, hemp is made from the plant itself rather than the flowers which are the active components of the drug’s effect.  Prior to sixty or seventy years ago, hemp was used in the production of a variety of products without a second glance.  Until this time, it was in fact one of the word’s most valuable crops.  It wasn’t until the fears over marijuana became widespread and the subsequent illegalization of the drug was legislated that the use of hemp for rope and other products was halted.

Hemp fabric is one of the toughest fabrics found in the natural world.  Its long fibers are extremely versatile and a great deal stronger than other plants.  Hemp also breaths much better than does cotton.  It is an effective insulator during the Winter months and can likewise help keep you cool during warmer days.  Hemp is also known as an effective UV protector.

Hemp clothing when mixed with cotton has a truly wearable feel.  It is not too harsh and can be quite soft in proper combinations.  Moreover, the hemp fabric can be dyed without leading to the fabric’s bleeding the colour out.  Washing increases the softness of hemp fabric without wearing it out.

Because of the limited production of hemp in North America, hemp tends to be somewhat more expensive than other fabrics.  In recent years however, production has increased with the increasing demand.  Nowadays prices are going down and soon it seems they will probably be equivalent with cotton.

Hemp is actually the most cost effective plant around.  As the hemp clothing manufacturers continue to grow so too will the availability and variety of hemp wear.  So if you are looking for a sustainable, eco-friendly, long-lasting and durable fabric, hemp is the fiber of choice.

I remember how tensed some farmers were when prohibitions were stamped on hemp cultivation. Except for the drug which some people try to misuse other wise hemp gives us many benefits. It can be consumed as food, it treats skin disease like eczema, the quality of the cloth is just too good and it is used even in building materials. Hemp cultivation will only preserve our environment but no one can assure whether people is going to misuse hemp in the wrong way.
