Bromelain Helps Digestion, Arthritis and More
Bromelain is a number of enzymes which are mixed together. It is found naturally in pineapples – mainly in the juice and stems. Many people take Bromelain supplements because the mixture of enzymes that it contains helps digest protein and is a natural cure for those with digestive problems . It is also considered an anti inflammatory and can help ease the pain of arthritis and other pains related to swelling in the body.
Bromelain is extracted from pineapples and made into capsules or tablets. It is available at most health food stores as well as selected grocery stores because some use it to tenderize meat. Although Bromelain is most known as a supplement for digestion and an arthritis aid, more research has linked it as a potential treatment for burns, joint and muscle pain, and treatment of diarrhea. The health benefits of bromelain also include relief of certain asthma symptoms such as an overproduction of mucus in the respiratory system. It may also help with seasonal allergy relief and is said to reduce the pain caused by varicose veins such as dull aches, tired legs and feet, and itchy skin. Unfortunately, eating more pineapple is not enough to increase the amount of bromelain in your body. This is because most of it is found in the stem of the pineapple which is not very tasty. The only way to get enough of these enzymes is to take a bromelain supplement.
If you are taking Bromelain to help with digestion it is best to take it with meals but if it is used to help with inflammation it is recommended to be taken on an empty stomach which ensures that the maximum amount is absorbed into the body.
Your Comments

If Bromelain is extracted from articles I'm wondering whether its going to be safe for pregnant woman because I heard through reliable sources who believes in ancient medicines, that in some parts of the world pregnant women are restricted from having pineapples and unripe papayas, consuming it can lead to complications like miscarriages. So if there are any restriction I think a label of caution will be safe for consumers.
