If you goal is not only to lose weight, but to eat to ensure that you optimize your health, the anti-inflammatory diet is a smart decision. It is a practical eating guide that anyone and everyone can (and should) use as a means of being as healthy as they can possibly be. The anti-inflammatory diet can help you lose weight and prevent inflammation which leads to a number of health problems. Heart disease, premature aging, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, arthritis and other age related disorders are caused by inflammation in the body.
The anti-inflammatory diet is a diet that is filled with foods that fight inflammation naturally. Think about what happens when you hurt yourself. If you have a cut the area becomes red and inflamed. This happens inside the body as well from every day wear and tear, exposure to toxins and a diet filled with processed foods. This inflammation can lead to disease and other problems. In order to fight this natural occurrence, certain foods have been recognized for being extremely effective. The anti-inflammatory diet is quite basic - your food should revolve around fresh fruit and vegetables as well as whole grains, legumes, and certain types of fish. On top of this, specific foods in certain categories are extremely helpful in fighting inflammation. For example, foods containing Polyphenols found in blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries and cranberries prevent damage from inflammation. The more colorful the fruit or vegetable, the more nutrition and disease fighting power it has.
Along with eating an array of the above listed foods, stay away from red meats, sugar, white flour and processed foods. These trigger inflammation in the body and processed foods can contain toxins which trigger disease and harm the body.
