5 Ways Sex Improves Your Health

If you think of sex as purely a recreational hobby then its time to change your way of thinking. Not only is sex fun but studies are showing that there are numerous ways in which it improves your health. Here are five such ways.

1. It fights off illness. Regular sex can actually boost your immune system and ward off diseases. One study looked at 30,000 men aged between 46 and 81 and found that the more the men enjaculated, the less likely they were to have cancer. Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A or IgA which protects you from colds and other common infections.

2. It keeps you slim. Sex is the funnest form of exercise there is. One good session can burn up to 300 calories without even seeming like work! This is equivalent to running about 20 minutes on the treadmill-which would you rather do?

3. Increases blood flow. Sex increases blood flow throughout the body. Not only is is exercise but when we are aroused our heart starts to pump faster, delivering blood throughout our body in a more efficient manner.

4. It may help you live longer. Not only can sex boost your health, but it may actually tack a few more years onto your life. Many studies have shown that couples who stay sexually active into their senior years actually live longer. One aspect of this may be maintaining intimacy and feeling of love for one another which can reduce stress and let you live a longer and happier life.

5. Sex reduces pain. Forget that bottle of tylenol-hop under the sheets with a loved one! Sex can get rid of heaadaches as well as other body aches and pains. It increases the leveles of the hormone oxytocin as well as feel good hormones making your pain subside. For women, sex is a good way to relieve PMS.

Next time you feel like skipping out on the gym or eating some junk food, substitute it with some sex with your partner. Not only is it great for your relationship bond, but will keep you healthy.
