5 Benefits Of Walking

Want to find an easy way to lose weight? Try walking. Not only is it easy on your body but it is advantageous in a number of ways. Here are five:

1.It is great for weight loss. You may think that because walking seems easy that it isn&undefined;t the best weight loss tool. In fact, tons of people rely on walking alone to lose weight and keep it off. Permanent fat loss takes time and like with any exercise, if you consistently walk you will start to see the pounds come off.

2.It clears your mind. In numerous studies it has been found that exercising outdoors relieves stress and gives the exerciser mental clarity. Walking is best done outside and is therefor one of the best exercises for mental health. Plan your route along a beach or through a wooded trail and reap the benefits.

3.It lowers cholesterol levels. For people who have high cholesterol levels walking can be a saving grace. Even if you are older, walking is a low impact activity that is gentle on the joints yet it lowers your cholesterol levels significantly.

4.It keeps your bones strong. As we age we lose bone mass. Unfortunately there isn&undefined;t much we can do except get plenty of calcium and physical activity. Weight lifting is great for maintaining healthy bone mass but walking is a great form of exercise to prevent osteoporosis as well.

5.It gives you time to socialize with friends. Spending time with friends and family does so many good things for your health. Connecting with loved ones frequently has been linked to lower risk of disease. Due to busy schedules some people find it hard to have both social time and exercise time while working a full time job. Walking with a friend or family member gives you time to catch up and will also get you moving.

Not only is walking great for the body and mind but it is free, can be done by almost anyone and can be done anywhere.  To get motivated, recruit friends and family to start walking with you on a regular basis.

I completely agree on the benefits of walking and morning walks are the best. Try inhaling and exhaling as you do your morning walks it is recommended as a good exercise for lungs. Walking also burns calories so instead of taking the lift start your day by taking the stairs. By walking the muscles get toned, the bones get stronger and your cholesterol lowers so let's start walking for all those errands, of course don't forget to consider the distance as well.
