4 Immune Boosting Foods

 Tis the season to catch a cold. Unfortunately, when the weather changes so do our bodies and our immune systems tend to be weaker than normal. In order to fend off the cold and boost your immune system , eat the following immunity boosting foods:

1. Yogurt. Yogurt is an amazing food for many reasons. For one it promotes healthy digestion which cleans out your system naturally. Secondly it contains probiotics which are live cultures or healthy bacteria which keep your stomach and intestines clear of disease causing germs. Try to eat yogurt daily to keep yourself healthy.

2. Oats and Barley. These delicious grains contain beta glucan which is a type of fibre that contains powerful  antioxidants which fight colds and diseases. These antioxidants are more potent than echinacea and work naturally within the body to not only fight disease but prevent premature aging.

3. Garlic. Garlic may not be good for your breath but it sure is good for your immunity. Eating raw garlic daily can boost your immunity immensely. Garlic contains allicin which fights infection and destroys harmful bacterial. Garlic also helps prevent colorectal and stomach cancers. Ideally, garlic should be eaten daily but if you aren&undefined;t a huge fan then try garlic pills which aren&undefined;t quite as powerful but wil still give you an immunity boost.

4. Mushrooms. This delicious fungus not only adds flavour and texture to disehase, but it promotes a healthy immune system. Mushrooms increase the production of white blood cells which fight disease. They also increase the productivity of these cells which help to fight off a cold or infection faster once you get it. Shiitake, maitake and reishi mushrooms have been fond to be the most potent. They can be taken in tablet form or added to dishes to get maximum health benefits.

Although sometimes you just can&undefined;t help but catch a cold, by eating the right foods and doing certain practices you can greatly reduce your chance of getting sick this season. Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your face and eyes, drink tons of water to flush out your system and get plenty of sleep to keep healthy.
