3 Weird Yet Effective Exercises
Most people know the routine-go to the gym, jump on the treadmill or ellipticle if you are feeling really crazy, go through the weight circuit a few times, and do some stretches and cool down. Its no wonder that we have a hard time exercising-the monotony of the routine can be painful. We are creatures of habit, but sometimes we can find ourselves wanting to do something out of routine. Here are three weird yet effective exercises:
1. Walking backwards. You may feel stupid, but walking backwards is better exercise than you think. It forces you to tighten your core and leg muscles while focusing on balance. It improves your motor skills, increase your balance, and tone you up. You can try it on the treadmill for something a little off the beaten track that will still be effective in your exercise regime.
2. Water aerobics. Water aerobics are not just for the elderly-they are fun to do with a friend and tones muscles you didnt know you had. The water in the pool forces you to work extra hard-in fact four times more than working out on land, which results in more results in less time. Also, because it requires you to be in a bathing suit there is even more motivation to get slim!
3. Crawling. Even though you are no longer two years old, you can still crawl. You may not do it in public, but it is actually very good for you. Researchers have found that when people crawl on their hands and knees the toxins in their head and heart decrease and circulation increases. It also strengthens back muscles and is great for shrinking those love handles. You may want to crawl in the privacy of your own home but if you do make sure that your knees are properly protected and you stretch out first.
There is no need to do the same exercises all the time and in fact, it is better not to. The human body is so smart that when you do something over and over again it actually uses little effort, making your workout sessions a waste of time. By switching it up every now and then you see better results and have some fun at the same time.
