3 Tips for a Better Sleep

A proper night’s sleep can do wonders for our health. Waking up after a restful night can make all the difference in the world-you will feel refreshed, healthy, and ready to start a new day. For some people getting a good night’s sleep is not as easy as it sounds. Trouble in marriages, stress at work, and health ailments can all contribute to a restless night. Here are three tips that will help you get a good night’s sleep.

1. Maintain a schedule. Go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time in the morning, even on weekends. When your body has a consistent sleep/wake cycle it is easier to fall asleep and wake up-even without an alarm clock. Although you may be tempted to sleep in on the weekend it will make it that much harder to wake up come Monday morning. If you live with your partner establishing the same cycle will also keep sleeping consistent and will minimize any disturbance either at night or in the morning.

2. Be comfortable. Make sure you have a comfortable mattress, pillows, and sheets. If you mattress is older than 9 years you should seriously consider buying a new one. Not only will the mattress lose its shape but the dust mites and bacteria could begin to irritate you. Also ensure that your room has low light and a soothing color on the walls such as lavender or other pastels.

3. Use your bedroom only for sleep and sex. If you use your bedroom for an office or to watch television you will have a harder time associating it with sleep. It has also been shown that people who have at TV in their bedroom spend a significantly shorter period of time sleeping or have a more restless sleep if the TV is accidentally left on when they drift off.

Understanding the importance of having a restful night’s sleep is very important as most people skip on ZZZs without thinking about lack of sleep and the impact on their overall health. Astronutrition carries a variety of sleep aid products to better help you get the sleep you need.
