3 Reasons To Eat More Yogurt
Eating yogurt has never been more popular. Now that the beneficial health effects of probiotics are being touted by an increasingly vocal segment of the medical community, more and more people are opting to add it into their daily regime.
Probiotics (literally pro-life), refer to strains of beneficial bacteria that can help the body maintain optimum health. These billions of bacteria, many of which already exist in the human body, are essential to fighting off harmful micro-organisms including other types of bacteria and viruses. Below are just the top three reasons why a little bit of probiotic rich yogurt a day is a great idea.
1.Improved digestive function. Probiotics are essential to maintaining a healthy digestive tract. There are literally billions of bacteria living in the gut and colon, some of which can be harmful. Taking probiotics daily has been shown to help with a variety of digestive complains including serious disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Probiotics have been especially useful in treating chronic diarrhoea and can therefore provide important relief to IBS sufferers. They have also been found to be helpful in treating Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis.
2.Allergies. There is an increasing body of evidence to suggest that probiotic therapy can help delay the appearance of allergies in children. Probiotic use has been found to be helpful for various allergenic complaints. So if you are suffering from hay fever or even allergenic rhinitis it might be a good idea to eat a little yogurt with your cereal each day.
3.Urogenital infections. The overgrowth of yeast in the body can have many harmful effects, but probiotic cultures as found in yogurt can stem the tide of such malevolent organisms. For women, upping their intake of yogurt can help to get rid of yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis and urinary tract infections. For both men and women, yogurt with probiotics will help to stave off other bacterial type infections. Increasing your intake of probiotics will therefore help to restore the body’s natural harmony, creating just the right conditions for the proper microflora balance.
Yogurt containers now carry a variety of labels touting themselves as probiotic providers and they are certainly right to do so. Probiotics are safe and are increasingly being recommended to help treat a variety of common disorders. So if you are looking for an easy way to help your body fight off disease, have a little yogurt on the side. If, however, you are one of the few who can’t stand the taste or texture of the stuff, probiotic supplements are readily available and will give you the same benefits without the hassle.
