3 Foods For Dry Skin

Problem skin creeps up on most people from time to time, especially during the winter when its is dry outside. Rough patches, redness, and irritation are all common around this time yet they dont necessarily have to be. You cant have perfect skin all the time but you might be able to come close! Now that we know how much our diet affects our appearance, we can pinpoint what kind of things you should be cooking to give your skin a little boost. If your skin is feeling a little dull or dry right now, try eating more of these foods.

1. Break out the nuts. Nuts are rich in selenium and omega 3 fatty acids. Selenium is a powerful antioxidant has been shown to improve acne by protecting cells from inflammatory damage and preserving skin’s elasticity. Selenium works even better when is accompanied by vitamins E and A so pairing up different nuts together can give you even more of a benefit. Try mixing brazilian nuts, almonds, and walnuts and eat a few handfuls of this tasty mix each day.

2. Fish. Even though you may be sick of hearing how good fish is for you, it&undefined;s true! Fish has no competition when it comes to Omega 3&undefined;s so you should try to cook with it about three times a week. If this is too much for you or you don&undefined;t really like the taste of seafood you can substitute it with nuts (see above) as well as avocado and extra virgin olive oil. Try making a fresh spinach salad with a few slices of avocado drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice. You will notice a difference in your skin in no time.

3. Anything with Vitamin E. Vitamin E is essential for promoting the skin&undefined;s elasticity and warding off wrinkles and other age signs. Almonds, eggs, leafy greens, and other foods rich in vitamin E heal the skin and can reduce the effects of acne. Foods containing Vitamin E include vegetable oils, nuts, whole grains, leafy green vegetables, and fortified whole grain cereals.

Along with eating properly, make sure you have a good skin care regimen during these dry and cold months. Take warm (not hot) showers and try to exfoliate regularly. It is also essential to moisturize religiously using a moisturizer that is as natural as possible and does not contain skin irritating ingredients.

We all love to have a great looking skin, smooth and glowing with good health. Our skin types are normally categorized into dry, oily, normal or combination skin and sensitive skin. Blessed are those who have a normal skin type because people with normal skin experience less skin problems.

Those who have dry skin can prevent the dryness by using flax seed oil in salads and foods which are rich in sulphur, drinking lots of water also helps and follow a good skin care routine. We cannot change the type of our skin but with a good diet and proper skin care we can feel beautiful in our own skin apart from turning heads.
