3 Fantastic Leg Toning Exercises

Because it is very much dependant on fitness goals, everyones exercise routines will vary. Almost everyone has a part of their body that they feel needs improvement, even if it just needs to be toned up a little. If your goal is to get fantastic, toned legs then try these three exercises.

1. Martial Arts Squat Kick. The martial arts squat kick is one of the best exercises for developing endurance and will tone your legs in no time. Stand with feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent, arms at your sides bent at a 90 degree angle. Contract your abs, bend at the knees and stick your butt back until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Make sure that your butt goes back far enough to keep knees from going past the toes. Return to the starting position, bring the right knee to your chest, and kick out in front of you at waist level being sure not to lock your knee.

2. Squats. If you are male, chances are you want to build some muscle in your legs. Squats are great for this, especially when weights are used. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, while holding a barbell across the back of your shoulders. Bend your knees and lower yourself straight down without letting your knees go past your toes. Stand back up again keeping your back straight and focusing on your thigh muscles.

3. Dancing. Dancing is a great exercise for the legs-especially modern & ballet styles. Every movement that is done incorporates the leg muscles and because dance requires a lot of cardio you will also lose fat so your legs look more defined.

Along with toning or building muscle on your legs you will reap some other benefits from these exercises. Your abs will be more toned and chances are you will lose some excess fat . Not only will you feel stronger, but you will look great.

Dance which incorporates leg movement sounds good but since dancing is not my cup of tea I think I'll choose Martial Arts Squat Kick. Martial arts is not only about defense or fighting the enemy but we can choose Martial art as an exercise as well. It emphasizes on the principles of tolerance and mercy as well. So along with toning our muscles we'll be learning some self-defense moves and good qualities as well.
